MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS, a film based on one of Agatha Christie’s popular novels and starring her most familiar character, Hercule Poirot, is a murder mystery. Each character has a possible motive for murdering an unidentified guest. After learning of the murder, Poirot says, “I see evil on this train” in which he begins his investigation with a series of interviews with those on the train.
The film depends mostly on the blanket of suspense that comes from not knowing who the murderer is, and why the guest was killed. After screening the film, it’s easy to see that each guest gives an air of being just as guilty as the other.
Beyond the death of the passenger, and the mystery surrounding the act, there is no real appeal for the film other than the high profile actors that include; Johnny Depp, Jack Black, Daisy Ridley, Michelle Pfeiffer, Penélope Cruz and others.
MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS is an interesting tale that the audience will enjoy if they depend on the suspense which circles the murdered person. The buildup to learning who the murderer is soothes the pain of having to sit through the rest of the film.
MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS is scheduled to arrive in theaters on November 10, 2017.
