Matthew McConaughey and Studio 8 boss Jeff Robinov looked all the “movie” business while attending the 2018 CinemaCon at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Monday (April 23) in Las Vegas.
The two men graced the stage to present a first look at the trailer for their upcoming film WHITE BOY RICK.
The film also stars Jennifer Jason Leigh and Bel Powley, is set in 1980s Detroit at the height of the crack epidemic and the War on Drugs. The film is based on the true story of a blue-collar father (McConaughey) and his teenage son, Rick Wershe (Richie Merritt), who became an undercover police informant and later a drug dealer, before he was abandoned by his handlers and sentenced to a life in prison.
I have one question, If “white” boys like Rick were selling crack during the 80s, why is it that “Black” folks are the images in which we see for the crack epidemic?? As the sellers and users? It seems to me, all things “crack” equals only people “black.”
Let me stop; this post is not meant to be deep…. WHITE BOY RICK is scheduled for a limited release on Sept. 14 and a wide release on Sept. 21!
